Programme Overview

Our programme is designed to help you connectcommunicate, and collaborate.

It is structured around the objectives of helping people to connect and build relationships, around open communication and about identifying and developing collaboration.

We have intentionally left spaces open each day for Affinity Groups, special interest groups and informal meetings.

We have several slots available for workshops and seminars. Currently, we are exploring the following topics:

  • Bible Engagement
  • Bible Translation
  • Fundraising
  • Missional Sales & Distribution
  • Bible Society Governance
  • ISP (Integrated Strategic Planning)
  • The digital aspects and opportunities of all the above.

Please let us know at events@biblesocieties.org if there are any additional topics you would like to see included or if you have any specific preferences.

Monday is primarily about connecting: connecting with one another and reconnecting with some key themes from the World Assembly. We will hear from our hosts, learn more about Integrated Bible Ministry and meet a leader from the Mohawk community. We will also have opportunities to get to know some new people and to engage with the Bible together.

Tuesday develops the themes from the World Assembly. We will have seven workstreams running in parallel working on each theme. Each workstream will follow a similar process which will begin by identifying and mapping out the activities that Bible Societies are doing that connect with the theme. In the next session, we will review each of these activities discussing successes and challenges. After lunch, in the third session, we will be doing some more open, creative thinking about what new opportunities there are and what steps we might take next.

We will have breakfast and dinner together, but the rest of the day is open for people to experience Canada. You may want to take a trip to Niagara Falls or Downtown Toronto. There will also be opportunities to visit the Canadian Bible Society office and its magic room. A dedicated team will be on hand earlier in the week to help you plan your Canadian adventure. Facilities, including meeting rooms, will be available in the hotel for those staying behind.

On Thursday, our focus is on the International Support Programme and roundtable discussions about specific projects. We will have an opportunity to hear how the ISP works: from identifying project ideas to finding funding partners for them and to take a deep dive into two projects of your choosing. There will also be an opportunity to hear from Dirk Gevers and Elaine Duncan about what is happening more broadly in the Fellowship.

Friday brings everything to a conclusion and a note of celebration and thanksgiving for all the good things happening in the UBS Fellowship.

Each day begins with an optional early morning prayer meeting to which you are warmly invited. We will also be enjoying times of fellowship, prayer and worship in our daily Devotions as part of the formal programme.

Throughout the week there are also dedicated sessions for Workshops, Affinity Groups or other groups to meet and for one-to-one consultations. There are plenty of spaces around the venue and surrounding area for small or informal meetings but please contact events@biblesocieties.org if you would like us to reserve space for a larger meeting.
